Idea - Delete Instagram but receive highlights in your inbox

I've got an idea and am curious your thoughts and whether or not you would use this.

Idea:
Connect your Instagram and an email to this app and it sends you a weekly or monthly email with updates from the people you care about.

Inspiration:
I've wanted to delete Instagram for some time. I know it's bad for my mental health, reduces my ability to focus, and is a time waster for me.

However, I feel like I'll miss out on updates from friends. It's not my close friends I feel like I'll miss out on updates from. Those I connect with often enough via text, in-person, calls, etc. It's those looser friends/acquaintances that I feel like I'll miss updates on.

  • Some college buddies
  • Former coworkers/colleagues
  • Old neighbors
  • Close friends (photos they may not share via text or in person)

Sure do I need those updates in my life? Probably not. But I think it's nice to see "ahh so and so got engaged" or "Awesome, she's pregnant with her second child" or "Cool, they went to Iceland".

More details:

  • Optionally provide who you definitely want updates about, who you maybe want updates about, who you don't want updates from
  • Optionally ignore business IG accounts
  • Configure email occurrence (weekly or monthly)
  • Start with IG but in theory if the APIs support this, could expand to other social medias
