Blue Twitter tick became Golden

Hey fellow redditors, maybe you have any info to share regarding the topic.

The situation is:

My company had a small Twitter account (±400 followers) for a couple of years. Literally only last month we decided to obtain the blue verification tick (for $8) - the transaction was made, the account was approved, we had the blue tick for several weeks now, and everybody's happy. Today it was changed to the golden one without any requests from our side (or even a notification from theirs).

So... Has anybody experienced it? What does it mean, do we need to cancel our regular subscription now and will they charge us $1000 some day later? (ಥ﹏ಥ)
