Made a mistake as a social media manager advice needed

Hi I’m a social media manager and I really messed up. I posted a highly edited photo of an influencer (that she sent to us) without thinking and it’s caused uproar. I turned off the comments as people were bickering with her in the comments and accusing US of editing her photo. She immediately thanked me for turning off the comments saying she had received a lot of abuse over the image. Should I just take it down? I don’t want to offend her but don’t want to fuel the fire either. Sorry not very experienced so not sure what to do and it’s the weekend so can’t ask manager. Thanks!
